Start with age and assignment
Double-A is often where prospect noise starts to become useful fantasy signal. A younger player holding his own at the level deserves a different read than an older player beating up the league.
That does not mean older players cannot matter. It means the fantasy bar should be different.
Separate tools from fantasy categories
A strong real-life profile does not always become a strong fantasy profile. Dynasty managers should translate the player into categories: power, speed, run production, strikeouts, ratios, saves, or playing-time stability.
If you cannot name the fantasy category the player can move, the stash is probably more narrative than edge.
Use patience with a trigger
AA players usually need more runway than AAA players. The right move is often to watch closely rather than add immediately.
Create a trigger before the room catches up: promotion, role change, improved plate discipline, better command, or sustained category output.
